A Warsaw-based consulting firm joined the Fort Wayne Base Community Council and Northeast Indiana Defense Industry Association and hired the previous commander of the 122nd Fighter Wing as the new chairman.
Col. David Augustine was succeeded as commander of the 122nd and the Air National Guard base near Fort Wayne International Airport last month. Stryke Industries hired the retiring commander as senior vice president of business development effective Oct. 20, the same day he became NIDIA’s chairman.
His NIDIA appointment was announced by its treasurer, Scot Maddox, at a joint meeting of the association and the community council.
“Col. Augustine is the right leader, at the right time and the right place to take NIDIA to new levels,” Jeff Uhey, the group’s previous chairman, said in a statement. “His passion for the military and defense industries in Northeast Indiana is unprecedented.”
Stryke employs a mix of military, technology, manufacturing and business professionals who help its clients develop their government contracting business.
Because it specializes in making quality warfighter products, “Stryke Industries is a perfect addition to NIDIA,” Augustine said in the statement.
“My goal is to bring significant growth to Northeast Indiana defense firms and the tools that Stryke brings to the table are unprecedented,”he said.
Augustine plans to work with area colleges and universities to encourage expansion of research and development programs that could benefit defense electronics employers in the region and of training and education programs that could improve the work force skills needed by the defense business.
