David L. Augustine, COL ANG (RET), SVP Business Development

UnknownDavid L. Augustine, Col (ret) was hired in Oct 2014 as the Senior Vice President of Business Development by Stryke Industries where he currently assists with the growth and development of small, medium and large size DOD businesses including new startups. His primary focus is on strategic advisement, advanced manufacturing practices, logistics management, information technology integration and operational practices. Augustine brings a rich history of local, regional and national involvement as a member of the Air National Guard.

After graduation from High School, Augustine attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln followed by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Professional Aeronautics. Augustine began his military career in October 1982 when he was enlisted as an Airman First Class in the 155th Reconnaissance Group, Nebraska Air National Guard. In May of 1986, he was accepted for an Officer appointment in the California Air National Guard and shortly thereafter, graduated from the Academy of Military Science with honors. In May 1987, Augustine graduated as the Distinguished Honor Graduate from F4-D Weapon Systems Officer School. Augustine was selected in December 1989 for Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) where he graduated with the Air Commander’s Trophy. He then underwent Lead-in Fighter Training (LIFT) where he graduated as the Top Gun recipient.

In October 1993 Augustine was hired full time as the Chief of Scheduling at the 196th Reconnaissance Squadron. He served in this capacity until November 1995 when he was selected as the 163rd Logistics Group Quality Assurance Officer. Augustine was awarded the command of the 163rd Aircraft Generation Squadron in February 1997 while upgrading to Instructor Pilot. In December 1999, Augustine transferred to the 110th Fighter Wing, Michigan Air National Guard where he was assigned as the Chief of Safety flying A-10 aircraft. On April 6, 2001, he assumed the position as Vice Commander of the 110th Fighter Wing. Augustine transferred to Selfridge ANGB, the largest installation in the Air National Guard, as the Vice Commander of the 127th Wing in November 2007 and assumed command of the 122nd Fighter Wing on 8 Jan 2011. In this capacity, Augustine provided leadership and oversight as first in command to approximately 980 Airmen, 150 Soldiers and 50 State Employees. In September 2014, Augustine was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash Award by Governor Mike Pence, the highest distinction given by the Governor, at a local ceremony in Fort Wayne.

Augustine is a Command Pilot with over 3,500 flying hours in numerous aircraft to include the A-10A/C, F-4D/E, RF-4C, KC-135 A/E/R, T-38 and T-37 aircraft. Augustine is a combat veteran having flown over 148 combat hours to include 24 combat sorties during the opening air campaign in Operation Iraqi Freedom while serving six months at Ahmed al Jabar Air Base Kuwait. In addition, Augustine flew multiple combat support sorties during the Bosnia and Kosovo conflicts.

Until retirement, Augustine served as the President of the A-10 Weapon System Council and as the Vice Chair of the Air Directorate Field Advisory Council where he advised the Director of the Air National Guard on ANG matters across all 54 states and territories. Augustine current Chairs the Northeast Indiana Defense Industry Association and sits on the Board for STARBASE, a 5th grade STEM Academy.
